Patriot Master Gunner

Being a master gunner entails being a technical and tactical expert. Patriot Master Gunners are trained in methodology. You are expected to know the standard and be the person in your unit to enforce it and make sure that teams are qualifying correctly. A PMG will become the one-stop NCO at all levels for a unit’s training, planning, and deployment of the Patriot Weapons System.

The PMG course equips commanders with noncommissioned officers (NCO) who are proficient in all facets of technical and tactical employment capabilities and limitations of the Patriot weapon system, experts in all aspects of the Patriot gunnery training strategies that will take units through gunnery tables and qualified to perform and analyze Air and Missile Defense Design.

Only the most qualified and accomplished noncommissioned officers in the Army Air Defense attend and graduate. When students graduate from the premier enlisted course, they’re awarded a special belt buckle for their accomplishment. Patriot master gunners of the past and present wear the insignia on their belt buckle with the inscription “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”; Knowing that knowledge is a cost that must be paid over time and through action. As of 2023, the Patriot Bros. Association has used proceeds from community support to fund the production and gifting of this long-lasting tradition.
